WIFAB Collaborations with Zenaga Foundation

 DANA WILFRIDA AYUGI OSODO

Zenaga Foundation & Sports For Future started in April 2024 to implement a tree nursery project in Kisumu, a town in the north-east of Lake Victoria in Kenya. More specifically, in the Kisumu County Football Association: the soccer community lacks all resources, be it equipment, balls, transportation tomatches and sports fields. In addition to the lack of sporting resources, the region also facesfundamental challenges such as insufficient access to nutritious food and clean drinking water, nosanitary facilities and hygiene products.

In order to support not only the members of the soccer club, but also the local population to help
themselves, the “DANA WILFRIDA AYUGI OSODO” tree nursery in Kisumu will be implemented in April
2024. 90,000 tree seedlings are to be planted there in project phase 1 (until Dec. 2026).
In the first phase of project implementation, fences and gates were built to protect the equipment.
The site was also prepared for the first tree planting.
Die erste Phase des Baumschulprojekts wird von Sports for Future finanziert.

GREEN SCHOOLS PROJECT

Green School is being initiated in Kisumu in collaboration with the Zenaga Foundation,
which will also receive 1,000 tree seedlings each. As in all Green School projects, the school will be
equipped with solar spotlights, mobile solar lamps, sports and garden equipment and murals. The
focus is also on a sports tournament and environmental and climate protection education. The aim is
to promote education in Kisumu, create financial opportunities through the management of the tree
nursery and provide vocational guidance. We are now also implementing the “Green Schools” project
series, which won the German Award for Sustainability Projects in 2023, in East Africa

In the spirit of sustainability, we want to implement additional “Green Schools” and other sustainability projects in Senegal & Nigeria with further supporters and continue the great cooperation with Badmintonearth in the DR Congo. The two non-profit organizations want to continue their successful cooperation and ideally expand it further – for this we need your support in the form of donations & sponsorships.
