The conceptualization of WIFAB began when a group of young professionals within Kisumu City saw the need to develop a formal forum that could be used as a launching pad for development projects within the region. Thus, the formal structure of WIFAB was developed and this consists of a secretariat concerned with the day to day running of the office. The governing body consists of both an executive board headed by a chairman and an advisory board also headed by a chairman.
